A pantry that remembers what you buy, then forgets

Most grocery apps give you points. Catch gives you a mirror: the good food you buy stocks a pantry shelf, and the shelf fades if you stop.

How the pantry fills

Scan a food and add it to a list. When you check it off as bought, it goes on your pantry shelf, graded and tagged. Only the good stuff makes it in: the pantry is a mirror of how well you eat, not a record of everything you carry home.

Why it fades

Every kind of food keeps for a different length of time, so each fades at its own pace. Greens go first, fish and fruit next, grains later, and oil lasts for months. Because the fade differs by food group, the shelf shows what you stopped buying, not just that you stopped. Nothing ever vanishes completely: the shelf mirrors the last few weeks, not a verdict on today.

You can see this on the home page, where a slider skips weeks ahead. In the app it happens over real weeks, which is the whole point.

Treats get a drawer, not a lecture

Not everything belongs on the shelf. Treats get a drawer of their own. There is no scolding, just your whole picture.

Pip lives off the same shelf

Pip is the character who judges your basket. He also lives off it: he fancies a food group each day, pipes up while you shop, and has a taste of what you have stocked. Nothing ever leaves the shelf.

A month with an end to it

Every month sets one goal, such as buying whole foods, shopping more food groups, or keeping it up week after week, and then it is over. Finish it and it counts. Miss it and the next one starts clean.

What is on the shelf, and where it lives

Your pantry lives on your phone, with no account behind it. The pantry and its history are part of the optional Catch Pro subscription; aisle sorting and barcode grades are free. If you reset your progress in Profile, the pantry is cleared with everything else, and there is no undo.
